One of the main differences I have noticed in living in Middle Tennessee vs. living in California has been the addition of more seasons. People here tell me this is normal. You seein California there is basically one season with several different mutations. Calfornia only has the season of spring with the various permutations:
- Spring=beautiful wonderful 70º weather with nothing but bule in the sky.
- Cold Spring=Usually late November-Early Jan where it gets as cold as the high 40s.
- Hot Spring=Usually July-August where it will get as hot at the upper 80s.
- Wet Spring-October where it will rain for a few weeks.
That is it. That is the “brutal” weather of California. But over the past three months while I have been here in Tennessee it has been a much more varied. I have seen it get to over 100º with 100% humidity to 30º and snow falling and falling and falling. To a month and a half of amazing fall foliage changing it colors from green to vibrant reds, yellows, oranges and browns. Right now it is mainly grey with a lot of sticks to look at.
Nevertheless, as one who felt like he was born to live in California, I have really, really enjoyed the variety. Perhaps that is simply because I am still in a honeymoon stage and this is all still new to me but I am still reminded of God’s constancy. The neverending grace and patience he has during my own season of faith. Seasons like doubt, apathy and anger that He endures with me.
