.::Sunday Snow

Yesterday morning we woke up to a blanket of fresh snow that surprised us before we headed off to church.  We are not in the habit of checking the weather yet as we have had 20+ years of the same weather.  But Amy opened to curtians and exclaimed, “Wow!” as you could imagine you would after seeing a covering of pure white all around you.

It was beautiful.

As I drove to church and saw the pristine beauty blanketing the city, I couldn’t help but think of the passage:

“Come now, let us reason together,”
says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”

Isaiah 1:18

Oh what purity is offered to us as God redeems us from the muck and mire of the filth we subject our souls to.

And gathering together with the family of faith was a reminder to me that while I am a fallen being, I am surrounded by fallen beings.  I thought that I need to cut those around me some slack as I am sure I challenge those around me to do the same for me.  That is one of the wonderful things about church.  We aren’t perfect.  We can’t expect those around us to be perfect.  Once we figure that out, we can REALLY start being family to one another.

“God, thank you for those physical reminders of Your redeeming, cleansing work with which your grace purifies our souls.  Amen”
